Police in the small Georgia town of Aragon are stepping up the search for Amber Graham, a 14-year-old ninth grader who vanished eight days ago.
U.S. Marshals and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be joining what has been a low-key search for the last seven days as concern for the girls safety mounts, Aragon Police Captain Dwayne Alexander said.
According to the girl's godmother, Ruthann Battles Dabbs, Amber's mother last saw her in her bedroom at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 20. The girl said she would be ready for church in the morning. Amber's mother looked into the room again at 2 a.m. and discovered that the girl was gone and her bedroom window was open. The mother immediately called the police.

Are there any stats available that compare rates of assaulted, missing, or other crimes against children dating back to the mid 1800s? Of even the mid 1900s? There just seem to be so many more cases these days that I wonder how much out highly sexualized TV, movies, magazines, etc. have to do with it.
This one ran away.
Most studies of the statistics show that there's been no real increase. The difference is what used to be a local story now gets played endlessly on national 24 hour cable news channels.
Not to mention the internet.
Where can we find those stats? I’d be interested to see the comparisons.
It sounds like it to me, and it sounds like some know where she is.
I am sure that doesn’t make the parents rest easy though. I’m sorry for them. It occurred to me that she left the window open for access back in, but then when mom found the empty room, she was stuck outside, afraid to come back for fear of getting in trouble.
maybe.
Could be. I didn’t think of that.
NOt that *I* would have ever done a thing like that or anything!
That really is strange.
Of course not.......
I meant to add an LOL (although in reality i never did do that, i walked right out the front door at night though)
Caption: Amber acting silly with her father.
That's is odd. Really.
I never even did that. I was too scared of my parents and the consequences when I got caught.
It was never a matter of *if* I got caught. Somehow, they always knew or found out.
Kind of puts the fear of God in you, too.
yeah......
Why would you post a picture like that of yourself? Or of your missing child?
