Blaming a supplier for a problem is unacceptable because the customer expects GM to take responsibility for products wearing its emblem.

The bottom line is that GM should have controls in place to test all product components whether internally produced or externally supplied.

And though this product might have been externally supplied, who designed it (probably GM). And was the problem with the design or did the supplier deviate from the design specs.

It is all a matter of where the quality dial setting is at any given factory at any given time.

Back in the 80's Toyota's image was tarnished by rust problem in the late 70's so they dialed up past 10(reference to Marshall guitar amps having a setting of 11).

I have a 1986 Toyota (daily driver) with 232,000 miles on it, still going strong.

I did have to replace some fuel line parts when ethanol came on line.
