This sorta thing has been going on in Alaska forever. Less than 2% of our state's land mass is in public hands. Feds come in call it a park, then stifle all economic activity; yet for a 100 years before that point the govt pushed economic development, people moved into area, dedicated their lives to making a life there, and then had the carpet pulled out from under them.
It was a driving force in the formation of the AIP party.
Once the feds come in then it becomes a slow process to depopulate the area. Feds have no business in total land ownership.
