Obama To Incorporate GOP Ideas In Health Plan Announcement is not likely to win him any votes from Republicans
President Barack Obama planned to send a letter to Democratic congressional leaders later in the day detailing his plan and make a statement at the White House on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama will incorporate Republican ideas on medical malpractice reform and trying to rid the health care system of waste and abuse in a revised proposal he hopes jump-starts his stalled overhaul drive, a Democratic official told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Obama planned to send a letter to Democratic congressional leaders later in the day detailing his plan and make a statement at the White House on Wednesday.
A Democratic official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the White House had not released the letter, said the plan would include expanding the use of fraud investigators disguised as patients to uncover waste and abuse. The plan also would expand pilot programs on medical malpractice reform and would address health savings accounts and Medicaid providers. Democratic sources have confirmed to NBC News that these four areas will be addressed by the president's letter. Obama is also expected to tell Congress he supports a comprehensive approach and that he does not believe "piece meal" plan will work.
Obama's announcement is not likely to win any votes from Republicans, who want the president to tear up the existing bills and start over. Nor is there any guarantee that Democratic leaders will agree to incorporate the administration's suggestions in revised legislation. But it could give wavering Democrats political cover by showing the White House has been willing to compromise in the wake of last week's televised bipartisan health care summit.

Tort reform is the litmus test. Until then this just a steaming heap of the usual stuff from the Kenyan
Again.....he needs a win on something....anything. If he wins this, it will just change later on.
Surely, you jest, Mr. Obama.
Anyone who believes this, I’ve got a great bridge for sale.
So, he found a way to turn this into more federal jobs!
Dems: We want to totally take over health care in the United States. And we want the Federal Government to pay for abortions.
Republicans: That is unacceptable. Health care is a matter to be settled by the doctor and the patient. And we refuse to allow the Federal Government to pay for abortions.
Student: Explain the range of possible compromises.
Obama thinks he is cute (actually, he is quite dumb). He actually looks and acts like the total buffoon and manchild he is (arrogant, immature, incompetent, etc.). The Pubbies should send him packing and let the Obamacare sink him and the Democrat Party. Unless he starts from ground zero, drops his labor union kowtowing and butt kssing, inserts true, meaningful tort reform and open mediccal insurance across all state line, let the Democrat low life go to hell!!!
So this is how Pelosi was able to say it is bipartisan. Tricky.
This actually works for me, just bought a Russian watch and found out it runs fast. Now I don’t need to fix it.
“The plan also would expand pilot programs on medical malpractice reform and would address health savings accounts and Medicaid providers.”
What the hell does that mean? It will “address” HSA’s! Address how? Making them exempt from tax? Make every state recognize them?
“malpractice reform”? What does that mean. Not placing limits on lawyer compensation?
More crap, more crap, more crap from this clown.
He’ll put in one half assed GOP idea, rahm it through with reconciliation and then call it bipartisan.
President Barack Obama will incorporate Republican ideas on medical malpractice reform...
Malpractice reform is not the big winner. The one reform that will make a real difference is allowing people to buy insurance across state lines.
This of course is why he cut off attempts by REpublicans to propose REMOVING things from his plan, and only allowed them to give ideas to ADD to the plan.
So he could find a couple that wouldn’t hurt his liberal buddies too much, and pretend to be “bipartisan” by putting them in the bill.
Of course, sending undercover agents to check for abuse will NEVER be a “reconciliation” item, and my guess is the other three ideas also wouldn’t count as reconciliation, so he can propose them knowing the senate rules will prevent them from taking effect.
AMEN!

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
