With O.J. Simpson giving his agreement from prison, a judge approved a plan Monday to donate the suit the former NFL star was wearing when he was acquitted of murder to the Smithsonian Institution.
The deal ends a 13-year legal battle between Simpson's former sports agent Mike Gilbert and Fred Goldman, the father of the man Simpson was accused of killing in 1994.
Both men claimed the right to the suit, shirt and tie Simpson was wearing Oct. 3, 1995, when he was acquitted of killing ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman after a trial that riveted the nation.
Gilbert, who has had the clothes in his possession, came up with the idea of a donation.
"It's part of American history," Gilbert said outside court. "People should be able to see it and reflect on what went so wrong for someone who had everything."
...The Smithsonian has not yet been contacted to see if the museum wants the Simpson suit. If it is rejected, it will be offered to another museum or institution of higher learning, according to the agreement approved by Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman.
The donation will be made in the name of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

Words fail me...
I thought they turned it down already.
How about they donate a confession?
Throw the piece of garbage in the trash where it belongs with it’s owner.
From the Smithsonian:

They did refuse the suit. Good for them.
Why the suit, it’s just another piece of cloth!
It didn’t have anything to do with the trial.
If they want to display something get the glove that didn’t fit!
Thanks for the update.
Or the shoes that were “magically photoshopped” onto negatives of OJ wearing the same shoes.
Wrong organization. Should be, “Believe It Or Not” by Ripley.
That’s what I say......that suit doesn’t represent his “fall from grace” but how a double murderer can get away with it with the help of so many incompetent people around him (including the prosecution)....especially that idiotic jury! Simpson coulda left his drivers license at the scene and it wouldn’t have changed a thing. Still burns me up after almost 16 years.:(
Always can use some more rags in the rag bin. ;-)
OH GOOD!
“The deal ends a 13-year legal battle between Simpson’s former sports agent Mike Gilbert and Fred Goldman, the father of the man Simpson was accused of killing in 1994. “
This .. Ends it ? Legal battles are closed, records are sealed and everything is done when the clothes of the accused are sold to the smithsonian ?
I didn’t know that.
You’re welcome!
Seriously....DNA odds were millions to one. Nope, nope, nope. He didn’t do it. It was outrageous. Racism is alive and well in this country, it just doesn’t look quite like it used to...
