I find it amusing, the pro-gun side is very cautious, while the anti-gun side is freaking out. I think we’ll get more than we expect, less than we want and the anti’s will be shocked at what comes next.
I really doubt they will go any further than the Chicago ban in the home.
The conservatives are not prone to broad decisions, but rather small ones. Change comes slowly.
Regardless, I think we win this one even if room is left for some minor regulations.
To Freepers who say any kind of regulation on guns is wrong....you need to get a grip. Shall not be infringed does not mean some regulations can’t be there.
For example, free speech does not mean you can libel or slander another person. It does not mean you can yell “fire” in a crowded theater.
There are some minor regulations that probably will be upheld here even as the wider ban is struck down, and that’s okay.
And by the time we're done, numerous suits (each limited in scope), will result in an extensive body of case law upholding the private right to arms ... none will be able to assail it as a fluke, or a single badly reasoned case.
I believe that is going to happen regardless of what the court rules, on anything.

If you were really pro-gun you should be extremely disturbed by this ruling contrary to the dilutions of the NRA having the Federal government apply the 2nd amendment to the States will do more damage to real gun rights over the long run then it could ever help.
Specifically this means that the domain of Federal law will be permanently expanded into the domain of gun regulations for those “exceptions” as nobody else will be practically allowed to try them regulations and find out just how bad an idea they are.
As counter-intuitive as it might seem, this is really the beginning of the end of Gun rights not the beginning. We know this because we been down this exact same road with other “incorporated” amendments of “the bill of rights”.
To celebrate now is to ignore the Storm which is about to come upon us. This is the expansion of gun rights for some, but at the cost of a general reduction of gun and all other rights for all over the long run.
