McCain: Obama did 'excellent job' of leveraging technology on campaign trail (MEGABARF ALERT)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-03-01 | J. Taylor Rushing

President Barack Obama's savvy use of technology during the 2008 campaign helped pave the way to the White House, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) acknowledged during an interview with The Hill.

When asked what Obama did right on the campaign trail that he wished he had done, McCain said, "I think President Obama did many things right. I think one was that he's an incredibly articulate speaker, and motivational, and I think that was extremely helpful to him, not only in the general election but in his primary."

Is it just me, or is McCain always nicer to dems than he is to Republicans?

I’m still trying to figure out who McCain was really supporting for president in 2008. And I’m REALLY trying to figure out how so many people on this site thought that McCain could actually beat Obama.

Actually it is absolutely correct and is the reason the slimebag is president. I the GOP doesn’t wake up and learn to take advantage of Web 2.0 they’ll lose again.

McCain is just mindlessly repeating what certain pundits made a story about during the campaign. They thought it was supper cool that Obamanoids twittered each other. McCain had/ has no idea what that means, or why it would have been important, but he is pleased to parrot whatever the TIME Magazine level dorks tell him. Anything but his own inept bungling-- blame it on the tweets of Axis Rod and the gauleiters.

Well, you forget that he was leading in the polls after naming Sarah Palin, coming off the convention, and harvesting her "Ten Million Dollar Weekend;" and only following the September meltdown when he "suspended" his campaign and made a drooling idiot of himself did the polls tip away, never to return.

I don’t suppose that the fact that McCain is harder to sell than a jug of spoiled milk has anything to do with him losing?

Actually, I do remember that...it was a clear message that Sarah was our future (at least she appeared that way then, not as sure now...but still no one else out there).

Modern communications didn’t have that much to do with the loss, especially since McCain/Palin was leading until the financial crisis broke. Juan’s hapless performance during those days, and threats to cancel the first debate, and his general cluelessness while pretending to lead turned the campaign in Obama’s favor.

And the fact that he agreed with Obama on so many issues such as cap and trade and amnesty discouraged many conservatives from voting, and McCain failed to establish enough sharp differences in how the two would govern.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the "megabarf" is about. Nothing McCain said was a mistake. Obama's political machine used technology in a way that had never been executed before. It was clear from 2008 that the Dem political machine was years ahead of what the Republicans had put together. As you point out, if that hasn't or doesn't change, it will make the task of unseating Obama, that much more difficult.
