I am really getting tired of hearing people say "misspoke" and any other mis-communication when they actually mean "they lied," or spread an unsubstantiated rumor.

While I am in agreement in theory, speaking as somone who has had to talk to the press on offical matters before, it can be somewhat intimidating if you're not used to it. The potential to garble your message is very great, unless you extensivly prepare your statement.

Not only that, but the print media will mess it up anyway.
