When Sen. Barbara Mikulski squelched rumors of her impending retirement by announcing she's ready for a fifth term, she also put a damper on the career aspirations of ambitious Maryland politicians.
"The only people who want Mikulski out more than Republicans are elected Democrats for whom she is posing a logjam in upward mobility," said Don Murphy, a former Maryland delegate and GOP strategist who advises Republican Mikulski challenger Eric Wargotz.

...I don’t either...state political offices are won by controlling Howard County, Montgomery County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Prince George’s County....those five jurisdictions call the shots for the whole state and the Dems run them.

I was campaigning for Mikulski, Sarbanes and Hoyer 40 years ago. I just shake my head to think that they are still around...

I was hoping she would retire and Bob Ehrlich would run and win her seat.

However, she can't win the dumb contest because the competition is too fierce with the like of Patricia Bin Murray, Barbara Boxer and our very own Bob Casey, Jr.
