Hatch blamed extreme conservatives for the 2008 defeat of Sen. Gordon Smith, a politically moderate but fiscally conservative Republican from Oregon. Hatch said if the Tea Party had not backed a constitutionalist candidate in that race, Smith wouldn't have lost to Democrat Jeff Merkley, whom Hatch described as "the most liberal senator," by 45,000 votes.

Everyone needs to remember that McCain-Feingold got us the 2006 Dem Congress and 2008 Obama.
The Dems are furious about SCOTUS overturning it. Juan McCain is a bad man.
Conservatives, moderates and the plues versus democrats.
I just got back from Yuma tonight. Was at an Arizona Federation of Republican Women meeting and JD has probably 85% support of the base. There are some diehard McCainiacs, but it’s going to be a tough one.
Yeah, but at least, mathematically, JD has a 62% chance of beating the democrat and (I think) that’ll improve once he wins the primary. Die-hard McCain people will realize that he needed to retire. My God, he’s already served 4 terms!
He’s crafty. You notice he’s everywhere..he’s on Fox News everyday. He’s really angling to be the face of the Republican party. yikes!
He won’t go on with Bill O’Reilly...LOL. He’s afraid of him. JD Hayworth has a very good interview on BOR’s show and thankfully, more people watch BOR than Hannity. Rush has never spoken to McCain either, so I am hoping Rush will let JD call the show. That would be a tremendous boost.
The man who crafted Fox News, Roger Ailes, started a political media career working for a “moderate” Republican named Richard Nixon over 40 years ago.
Rush talked a lot about those “parties” at Ailes house with the like of Rudy Giuliani.
When you see the Newt’s and the Jeb Bush’s etc. on Fox News, consider that the RNC insider moderate establishment is manipulating a conservative audience to support not so conservative Republicans and their ideas.
Well, if it's a tossup or a slight edge to MCain, then obviously you go with Hayworth, there's no appreciable risk factor to consider.
But heck, I'da said Hayworth even if I hadn't read this. :)
Hard to be the face of the Repubs when he’s playing by the lefts rule book. Every thing we thought bad about Obama’s campaign is being used by McCain.
Right, but I always appreciate the mathematic formula put to work. :)
Moderate Republicanism as represented by John McCain, lost in 2008. Not again.
Go JD!
The thing that irks me the most is that McCain has attacked JD more times in the last two weeks than he attacked obama the entire presidential campaign. distgusting.
:)
You’re absolutely right about that!!
I hope JD win’s
Who’s on Fox all the time? McCain or JD? I’ve only seen JD once or twice. I see McCain a lot. I switch to something else.
Much as I value FNC, I have to agree.
We don’t live in AZ, but we are SO hoping JD wins. We are SO sick of McCain we could scream. Above and beyond the horrid legislation he brings by “reaching across the aisle”, and even above and beyond his lousy prez campaign, what we detest about him most is the way he stabs conservatives in the back every chance he gets.
It seems like he’s got some sort of vestigial Stockholm Syndrome from his days in the Hanoi Hilton. He sucks up to and agrees with his “captors”, the rats.
