Really? How bad were earthquakes in 1600? 1400? 1200? 1000? 500? 200BC?

Please tell us.

Just like the person who wrote 30 years ago (I still remember the letter to the editor) that when THEY grew up we never had the tornadoes and terrible storms we are having now. Someone polited reminded her a few days later that when SHE grew up there weren’t near the people NOR the media to report on the storms that were occuring just as they always had. Same here.

Um, it was a joke. Granted it wasn't a good joke but it was a joke just the same.

I think we are in for a bad period of tectonic events. I posted a fairly detailed comment on the earlier Tsunami warning thread. Somewhere in the 200 comments. Got to run for the moment will be back later with the exact number, and some other thoughts.

The early 1960s had two quakes above 9.0. There’s nothing new or surprising about these quakes.
