WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is in a bind as a House committee prepares to vote on a resolution that would recognize the World War I-era killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as genocide.

While a White House candidate, then-Sen. Obama said he believed the killings were genocide.

A congressional resolution to that effect could alienate Turkey, a NATO ally and traditional friend of the United States that is crucial to America's foreign policy goals.

I like to call things as I see it, and when you kill a few million people of a certain race or creed, that pretty much sums it up. Whether or not it gets recognized by the government who cares, we all know the truth of it.

Yeah, I could see how this would be tough for Obama. After all the Armenian Holocaust was carried out by Muslim Turks against Armenian Christians. Obama being Muslim and all...

Turkey has a border with Iraq. It also has a major problem with Kurds whether they are in Turkey, Iraq, or Iran. Turkey also occupies an important geostrategic location important to our national intersts.

Remember that the Turks sandbagged us on the Iraq invasion (denying us operational access to certain areas).

Here’s a radical idea - let’s tell the truth about what the Turks did to the Armenians.

LOL. Yeah we have Iraq and Afghanistan now. It sure is paying big dividends. I suggest you look at a map. Turkey can make life miserable for us in the region. It was bad enough we couldn't get the 4th ID to transit the country.

And we have a few military bases in Turkey. In 2007, when this came up before, there was concern that the Turks would restrict US access to Turkish airspace and to our air base at Incirlik. This would have an impact on our logistical support in Iraq and Afghanistan.

U.S. military looking at alternatives in case Turkey cuts access

***... a resolution that would recognize the World War I-era killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as genocide. ***

When you stir old $#!t it still stinks.

Lets remember, the past presidents have not wanted to offend Turkey in this matter as they are an ally in certain foreign policy matters.
When the Iranians freed the US captives when Ronald Reagan became president it was Turkish planes that picked them up. It was later found that another Turkish plane there was loaded with Turkish commandos just in case the Iranians backed out on the deal.
It was later pointed out that we needed the Turks in this Iranian matter and tried not to bring up the Armenian situation.

He is not in any BIND. He is a two-faced hack...and this AP article is probably as far as any LAMESTREAM MEDIA coverage of this will go.

The AP and other LSM outlets will publish crap like this so that in the future they can “point” to them as “proof” they are being “objective”.

If Abu Ghraib happened on Hussein’s watch, for instance, the NY Times may have a critical article about Hussein on page 23A of their Saturday edition...yet since it happened on Bush’s watch, it was on the front page for 3 months.

It was genocide, whether a formal declaration is made or not.
