U.S. is cast as villain in Japan
LA Times ^

Posted on 02/27/2010 3:31:34 PM PST by Chet 99

Reporting from Seoul and Los Angeles - A series of aggressive federal probes into the recalls of Toyota autos are looking at whether the automaker has been less than forthcoming about the safety defects in some of its vehicles.

But in Japan many believe it's the U.S. government that has something to hide. Congressional hearings on the recalls, they say, are part of conspiracy to help prop up Toyota's largest American rival, General Motors Co., which the government bailed out of bankruptcy last year, becoming the majority shareholder.

And they're right.

Wouldn’t a more accurate headline be: “US Congress, Administration Viewed As Villains In Japan”?

To: Question Liberal Authority

When Bush was president, the media said that foreigners hated Bush. With Obama, they say foreigners hate America.

Funny how the LA Times gets it wrong. They report that there is a “belief” that US government ownership of GM and Chrysler are driving this witch hunt of Toyota. Of course it is not a belief, it is a fact!

As Glenn Beck said, it would be like Chevron holding hearings on how rotten Exxon-Mobil is.

I wonder if the Okinawa base problems are factoring into this aggressive presecution of Toyota as well???

They have a point. How can a company fight against a government owned monopoly?

There will be more of this as this Administration continues to stab allies in the back. Propping up collapsing industry after being gutted by offshoring jobs with government heavy-handedness, the angry will only increase.

What is worse, with GS out there with their currency swaps ready to nuke the next target (read that, country) this will only increase. American WILL be hated, and the people who profitted from their crocked deals, who put the Zero in office, will skate.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch - but something very strange is goin’ on. Toyota didn't take any bailout money, Toyota workers refuse to unionize and most Toyota factories in the US are in Right-to-work states. It seems as if Obama has declared war on Toyota. To him, Toyota must be destroyed. I'm not saying the peddle malfunctions are are part of a conspiracy, I just think it's all a little too convenient for Obambi.

Yep, no argument there. The Toyota CEO should have told the “congressional committee” to pound sand. The only explanation they owe are to the consumers of the said bad product...not a bunch of grandstanding corrupt dirt-bags.
