The first round of a new fight over White House power to unilaterally impose new protections on large tracts of western lands went to the Obama administration.
The Senate on Thursday rejected, 38-58, Sen. Jim DeMints (R-S.C.) bid to block White House authority to designate national monuments in western states.
DeMint wanted to attach the amendment to legislation approved yesterday aimed at bolstering tourism in the U.S.

The States are going to have to fight this one ... These National Monuments, like the wild horse preserve that Clinton did and forced low sulfur coal to have to be bought from his friend Riady in Indonesia, have got to stop. They are restricting the States from using their own resources to earn money from them. BTW, see the Indonesia connection?
Now that natural gas production can be drastically increased with newly developed drilling technology called hydraulic fracking technology, this is precisely where this is headed. Obama and the Democrats whining about energy independence meanwhile they are placing off limits more and more of our energy resources.
The Democrat lies about energy independence has got to stop. Utah is going first ...

The money from the resources of those Riady lands was supposed to go to Utah schools.
and FWIW, GWB, did not lift a single finger in relief for Utah residents.
Since you are not complaining about the National Monuments created by Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush, one might think you are a hypocrite
