Hey, wait a minute...

I never got this far in math, but what happens when you subtract 43 from 43?

Y'know what else? I got on Netflix last nite and rented that movie with Yul Bryner and Tony Curtis called "Taras Bulba". You know, the one from back in the 60's where they played the roles of father and son cossacks. I was a real tear-jerker in the end; a chick got into Tony Curtis' head and it was tragic, but I'll always remember that movie for one scene: The duel between two cossack horsemen. These guys didn't duel with guns or swords. No, they lived as horsemen and they died as horsemen. When two of them had a problem with each other, all the cossacks rode out on the steppes to the place where there was a giant chasm, and there the two parties had a chasm-jumping duel.

First one guy jumped, then the second guy jumped. And so on. First guy whose horse got tired and couldn't quite make the jump, just almost made it, and his horse tried desperately to get his hind feet up on top, but... into the abyss, forever.

Somehow I'm really looking forward to seeing that movie again.

That movie was made in 1962. I probably saw it first in the mid-60’s as a little tot. And that scene is the one I remember most vividly as well.
