spin it how you will - the purpose of this thread was to mock mac owners as somehow supporting Gore - my point is, the machine is more reliable, and if the critics spent someting more than 15 seconds looking, the same situational issues could be applied to their cars, banks, cable companies etc...

nice try though

Hey, Apple, your Mr. Gore isn’t as PC as you’d like to believe.

The Inconvenient Truth Al Gore Hopes You Forget!

So, I wake up this morning to hear Al Gore has won an Oscar for trying to save the world!

Then I went out and shoveled 18” of his global warming out of my driveway.

First question: Why didn’t he do anything to try to save the environment during his 8 years as Vice President and how many years as a senator?

Some say the Vice President has no power, can’t make policy, blah, blah.

Next question: Then why was he able to pull off selling one of our few oil reserves at Elk Hills in California to his big oil buddies at the expense of the environment and fuel reserves. This story was widely reported, but that was 10 years ago. How soon we forget.

http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=468

[snip]Occidental’s planned drilling of the Elk Hills doesn’t only threaten the memory of the Kitanemuk [Indian tribe}. Environmentalists say a rare species of fox, lizard and the kangaroo rat would also be threatened by Oxy’s plans. A lawsuit has been filed under the Endangered Species Act. But none of that has given pause to Occidental or the politician who helped engineer the sale of the drilling rights to the federally-owned Elk Hills. That politician is Al Gore.

Gore recommended that the Elk Hills be sold as part of his 1995 “Reinventing Government” National Performance Review program. Gore-confidant (and former campaign manager) Tony Cohelo served on the board of directors of the private company hired to assess the sale’s environmental consequences. The sale was a windfall for Oxy. Within weeks of the announced purchase Occidental stock rose ten percent.

That was good news for Gore. Despite controversy over Dick Cheney’s plans to keep stock options if elected, most Americans don’t know that we already have a vice president with oil company stocks. Before the Elk Hills sale, Al Gore controlled between $250,000-$500,000 of Occidental stock (he is executor of a trust that he says goes only to his mother, but will revert to him upon her death). After the sale, Gore began disclosing between $500,000 and $1 million of his significantly more valuable stock.

Nowhere is Al Gore’s environmental hypocrisy more glaring than when it comes to his relationship with Occidental. While on the one hand talking tough about his “big oil” opponents and waxing poetic about indigenous peoples in his 1992 book “Earth in the Balance,” the Elk Hills sale and other deals show that money has always been more important to Al Gore than ideals.

Yawn...

Let me ask you a question....

If Apple products are such the be-all-and-end-all then why is it that no major businesses use them for anything important?

The business I work for (which is a Fortune 500 company) tried some Apple servers and applications-mostly because head of the IT department at the time sounded just like you. They got rid of them after six months because they were unreliable-the hardware was in constant need of attention/repair and the software was buggy and unreliable. Those servers were uninstalled after six months and are now sitting in their pretty Apple cardboard boxes in the storage room. They also got rid of the head of the IT department, too.

Goron is on the board not because of his, ahem, science credentials, but because he can open for Apple the doors in the swamps of Washington. Duh!

RE: Al's reelection good reason not to own an Apple

Since Bill Gates is the largest single contributor to UN Population Control agencies that implement their culture of death programs (abortion and forced sterilization), and since the size of Microsoft dwarfs Apple and is the source of his funds, you'll find a pretty good excuse not to own any computers or programs that are associated with Microsoft. Right?

I solved the problem, I bought a new Intel i7 notebook with a descrite graphics processor and windows 7.
P
She still does most of her work on the Mac but will use the new computer when she has problems.

The i7 screams, I highly recommend it. It cost nearly as much as the Mac but processes mpeg video about ten times faster than my old dual core Pentium.

“I’m extremely happy with my Apple products and I’ll continue buying ‘em. Next up, a nice shiny Mac Pro. :-)”

If no basing purchasing decisions then on electing morons as directors, how about the usage of slave labor? See

Could be you are so interested in the product you would buy it from the devil itself.

Many ways to go at this one. Let’s start by looking at the diff of a true scientist like Bill vs one who has zero science credentials like Gore. That basis alone makes one less credible.

Or how about the way that Al earns his money? He does it by promoting his religion to pad his checking account. Bill does it thru ownership of an actual technology company, and DONATES his money to those causes. Lots of diff.

I could go on, but will end with this revelation about the use of slave labor.

That is a completely lame attempt to explain away your inconsistency.

Bill Gates derives income from the revenues he has accumulated and continues to accumulate directly from the sale of Microsoft products. Large sums of those dollars find their way directly into culture of death UN programs.

Algore sits on the board of Apple but does not derive hardly any of his ill begotten income from Apple.

To further add to the lopsidedness of this argument, Apple sales are dwarfed by Microsoft sales.

In essence there is no comparison between the two. Bill Gates, deriving income as an associate of Microsoft, far outdistances Algore, deriving income from Apple, in contributing financially to causes that are directly apposed to the core values we hold...the rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Heck Gates directly contributes to denying the most basic right of life to millions every year through his philanthropic giving.

Bottom line: Boycotting Apple products does not deprive Algore of revenues to continue his socialist agenda, but boycotting Microsoft products actually reduces the monies that can be used by Gates in furthering his liberal agenda.

Try thinking with your head instead of your seat.

I am not advocating boycotting Microsoft or Apple, or using or not using anything. I am just pointing out the inconsistency and disingenuous nature of emotionally stating that Apple should be boycotted because of liberal Algore when the poster is plucking away on a computer using Microsoft products, totally ignoring the contribution of MS to liberal causes.

I am aware of UBUNTU but have no need for it.

Microsoft is stuck with Gates, Apple chose Gore.

True, and good point, but it still does not change the fact that if Algore is a good reason to boycott Apple, then Bill Gates is a better reason to boycott Microsoft because he actually uses revenues from Microsoft to oppose conservatism while Algore’s anti-conservative revenues come from other sources, very little from Apple.

Gates is screwing with third world countries.

Gore is screwing the the USA.

BTW, this is an intellectual exercise, I’m not advancing a boycott against either country.
