I’m surprised there’s not a Diana Irey revival.

What an outstanding interview. Bill Russell will do good things for SW Pennsylvania upon being elected.

One of the key pieces with the Fair Tax is the move to repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution...to completely kill the income tax.

So Russell is one of those anti-IRS kooks who wants to clobber Pennsylvanian's with a 30% Federal Sales Tax???

Does he think that whacknut who flew the plane into the IRS building in Texas was a "hero"???

What an outstanding interview.

I agree. The depth of knowledge Col. Russell displayed on the subjects discussed is very impressive.

It's my understanding that this was actually one interview by telephone published in two parts. Bill didn't know what the questions would be, it was basically just a two-way conversation.

Oh, and Bill didn't use a teleprompter. :-)

Why don’t you contact the Russell campaign, Willie, I’m sure they’d be glad to answer all of your pressing questions and calm all of your fears.

LOL! I'll chuckle about that the rest of the day.

I thought his knowledge was impressive also and didn't realize it was a telephone interview, I'm all the more impressed.

It's pretty easy to see that Russell will lose no matter who he runs against...
Afterall, he can't continue running a campaign based solely on dumping dirt on the grave of a dead man...
And with Murtha out of the way, it becomes clear that Russel doesn't hold views that are consistant with the demographics of this district...

For instance, I doubt that he has much of a chance if leading a Fair Tax Revolt against the IRS among the aging retirees in his district. But odds are very high that those retirees will revolt at his proposal to tax their retirement income at 30% whenever they try to spend it.

LOL! And despite the region's democrat tendencies, the people are waaaay too fiscally traditional to vote for some radical idea like repealing the 16th Amendment.

Russel is a loser candidate with a losing position on issues. If the GOP wants to capture this seat, they need to find a home-grown grassroots candidate from this district... not some dimwit partisan carpetbagger.

You've already made it quite clear that you have a low opinion of Col. Russell.

You did it with this statement...

Does he think that whacknut who flew the plane into the IRS building in Texas was a "hero"???

If you know anything about Col. Russell, you would know that he and his wife Kasia(who was pregnant at the time) were in the Pentagon on 9-11 when it was hit by the jihadi-piloted passenger jet. After seeing to it that his wife and unborn child were safe, he took part in the evacuation efforts. Unlike 99.99% of the rest of the American people, Col. Russell has first-hand, real-life knowledge of the horror, shock and sadness of that event and that day.

For you to ask if Russell thinks the "whacknut who flew the plane into the IRS building in Texas was a hero" has got to rank at the top of the list for the most ridiculous post in the history of Free Republic.

Anything you may have to offer after that is hardly worth responding to.

One of the key pieces with the Fair Tax is the move to repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution...
Sadly Mr. Russel has been mislead. There is no legislative language in the Fairtax bill that even mentions the 16th amendment. Nor are there any compelling "sister" Fairtax legislations regarding the 16th.

What is in the bill though is, after the first year of enactment, the Fairtax gives unelected, nameless, faceless Social Security bureaucrats the power to "determine" the sales tax rates every year without a vote from Congress...

I wonder how you Fairtax advocates feel about having the Marxist progressives in the Obama administration having that power?
