Tigen the link you posted to tafoni.net shows a good overview map of quakes throughout the world highlighting the activity on the Ring of Fire. Thanks again.

earthquakes travel in a line around the Ring of Fire - and, on land, often follow a couple weeks after a lot or rain that sinks down deep making mud that acts as a lubricant which then allows the ‘hung up’ sections to slip.
The earthquakes has been coming steadily up the ring - Calif is in the path..
Calif. is overdue.
Glad I got outta there.

Comparatively shallow, I link less than 13 miles. Hence the reason for the long Swave for a moderate to large quake.

We lived in Naha when my Father was stationed in Okinawa. I was just a kid when we had an Earthquake there that literally held me in my bed as I struggled to get out of it. I couldn't resist the force.

That must have been a very frightening experience for you.
If someone didn't believe in the Almighty God prior to a large quake, it seems that they would be likely to believe afterwards.
SW, when you wrote "couldn't resist the force" that describes exactly the sensation I felt while holding onto both sides of my bed hoping to prevent my being catapulted out of bed during the 1994 Northridge quake.

I would rather endure an earthquake a day than live in an cold ice box, like Maine for instance......lol
The only ice I want to see is in my Margarita.

LOL Dragnet!
But wait, are you feeling okay?
One can learn to live in ice cold climate, learn to drive on ice, survive blizzards, learn to love the snow white scenery, but one never knows when or how large the next big quake will be. Come to think of it, I want to move away from the earthquake zone I am in. Today! :D
