I guess they missed the fact that we had about an inch the last two days with a brief respite today. The headline sounds as though we haven’t had any rain.
This sounds like the burn areas could have a problem with this...video at the accuweather link of the article.
It’s beneficial rains for the delta smelt fish but for the Central Ca. farms no rain is allowed.
The video shows a pretty healthy looking low out there getting all wound up...
I hope it hits dismally sunny allatime, Phoenix.
Personally, I’m sick of sunshine.
LOL!
The only thing worse than being under snow, is being under water. For that I can be thankful.
Yeah, it was 68 degrees when I was down there yesterday. It’s hard to find an excuse not to play golf.
I had to grill a thick Rib Eye on the deck tonight and it is stormin out there but no rain yet on the mud flats of Humboldt Bay. Jim Bernard the local TV weather guy just said 1” to 3” of rain with snow down to 3,000’ by tomorrow night...
No rain here yet in Surf City. I cold even kinda see the moon.

A powerful storm system over the Eastern Pacific will likely affect the region late Friday into Saturday.
Mid and high level moisture is expected to increase significantly Friday afternoon which could produce some light showers North of Point Conception preceding the main rain band.
The bulk of the rainfall is expected to arrive in a 4 to 6 hour period prior to the cold frontal passage at this time. The best estimate for timing of this heavier rainfall is Friday evening across the Central Coast and late Friday night into Saturday morning for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.
Due to the better dynamics and instability with this system there will likely be a brief period of higher rainfall rates as well as a slight chance of thunderstorms late Friday night into Saturday morning.
Behind the main cold front a cold and unstable air mass will likely bring additional showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms through Saturday afternoon.
Any thunderstorms that develop will have the potential to produce brief heavy downpours, gusty winds, and small hail.
Atmospheric conditions will also become more favorable for isolated strong thunderstorms and possible waterspouts late Friday night into Saturday morning across the Southern California coastal waters especially from Point Mugu Southward to Huntington Beach including the San Pedro Channel and Santa Monica Bay.
Any waterspouts that develop will have the potential to move ashore as weak tornadoes along the coast.
Snow levels are expected to be around 7000 feet initially but will likely lower to around 5000 feet by Saturday morning as the colder air spreads across the region.
Locally lower snow levels will be possible on Saturday near heavier showers or thunderstorms. As a result there will be the potential for 6 to 12 inches of snow above the 6000 foot level with local accumulations over 18 inches possible for elevations above 7000 feet.
The potential for significant snow and gusty winds at the higher elevations will likely result in a winter storm watch being issued as we draw closer to the event.
Rainfall estimates Friday through Saturday are generally expected to range between 0.75 to 1.50 inches across Coastal and Valley areas with 1.50 to 2.50 inches in favored Foothill and Coastal slope locations. Locally higher amounts will be possible near thunderstorms. Due to the potential for brief heavy downpours and thunderstorms flash flooding and debris flows in and around recent burn areas will be possible.
If this storm continues to evolve as forecasted a Flash Flood Watch will likely be required for the recent burn areas as we draw closer to the event.
Residents and emergency officials are urged to stay tuned to the latest National Weather Service forecasts and possible watches as this storm system continues to evolve.
Powerful winter storm expected late Friday through Saturday
Here we go again! Sure wouldn’t have known it today! Gorgeous day here in Eagle Rock. I’ll pull out the boots again!
Definitely the burn areas will suffer if it hits as expected.
What happened to the CAPS?
Thanks for asking about me Ernest? The rain started around midnight and the gauge had exactly 1 inch at 7 this morning. For 37 years my wife has walked for a hour every morning between 5 and 6 and sometimes our daughter joins her and this morning two things happened. Daughter accused her of being f’ned obsessed and then a cop pulled up along side, rolled the window down, shook his head and told E, you must have been born here.
Wife says Local radar was bright yellow all morning as I sleep in on these day...
LOL!
