I think this “summitt” is going to bore people beyond belief. I’ll make a friendly bet and say 30% of the initial audience has already tuned out. Both sides have overprepared with too many of their own facts and stories to relay. The biggest mistake that was made was to obviously not put a time limit on those speaking. Maybe this is a good thing for the Repubs, if so many people get so bored so fast and change the channel then O’s well planned pr dog and pony horse show will be an utter failure.

Good. If their memory of the event is Obama, Alexander and Pelosi, that should be a negative for the dems. Only Alexander stuck to facts and logic, where the dems were all emotion and empty rhetoric.

You’re right. Besides, at least 496,000 newly unemployed will be heading to the Unemployment Office.

You don't think they want people to actually pay attention, do you? That's what caused them so much grief in the first place.

The bills were written in secret and passed in the middle of the night without anyone reading them. I don't think rapt attention is what they had in mind.

All they want is cover. They want one Republican to cross party lines so they can say it was "Bipartisan". Short of that, they want to be able to tell their constituents "we tried to reason with those primitive screwhead Republicans, but they just wouldn't listen".
