It’s my understanding that if you have a lapse in health insurance coverage of more than 30 days, you can be subjected to the pre-existing insurance coverage. SOmeo0ne else may have more information on that, but when our son changed jobs, we were told to buy private coverage for him during the interim. They (the insurance company) even sent us a letter that helped us prove he was continually covered.

Gotcha. I’ve never had a lapse between jobs so I didn’t think about that scenario.
