Because Stack's family didn't commit the crime, Stack did.

Let's say Stack's daughter writes a book about living with a man whose life was bedeviled by the IRS. Can the victim's family then sue the daughter?

We have a long standing legal and social principle that says we don't visit the sins of the father on the son, or in this case, the daughter.
