Host vs. Host: Limbaugh, Levin Pummel Beck
The Atlantic Wire ^ | 02/24/10 | Jake Simpson

Posted on 02/24/2010 12:59:45 PM PST by writer33

Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.

Oh, puleeeeese. Comparing the usual pork projects of the Republicans to the deliberate Socialist over-loading of the US economy by Obama and the Democrats since 2006, is ridiculous, dishonest and brain-dead.

Besides, I have never been one of those people who demand politicians refrain from bringing money and economic projects back to their districts and states. Its part of politics and I never cared in the past when either party did it, but what is happening now is completely different and designed to implode our economy.

Glenn Beck is screwing with the future of our country by not telling the truth.

>> Rush never mentioned Beck by name <<

Which Beck? There are a lot of them!

Here’s my ranking of the world’s greatest Becks:

Gold medal — Dave Beck (w/accompaniment by Jimmy Hoffa)

Silver medal — Dave “Brew” Beck (w/accompaniment by Paul Desmond)

Bronze medal — Jeff Beck (w/accompaniment by Rod Stuart)

Honorable mention no. 1 — Joe Beck (w/accompaniment by Miles Davis)

Honorable mention no. 2 — Beck (w/accompaniment by Charlotte Gainsbourg)

Out of the running — Glenn Beck (w/accompaniment by Bill O’Reilly)

Rush was being a complete jerk today. Every ten minutes, the basketball buzzer goes off and he says something about the Republicans sucking. All the while he was maintaining that he wasn’t mocking GB.

I thought it was hysterically funny. Reasonable minds can disagree, as apparently you and I do, and as do Glenn and Rush.

Glenn Beck is as much a political commentator as Jackie Mason.

They are both ENTERTAINERS!
And that's all they are. Beck has the larger audience and is able to get viewers to focus on his agenda issues while more important issues are voted on in Congress while everyone's looking at Beck's show.

BECK IS MEDIA. Never forget that. At least Jackie Mason isn't media.

Glenn Beck is very carefully appealing to the independent middle. That is exactly whom we need to get in order to win elections. In order to get them, he has to call out the Republicans on the stuff they are doing wrong. He can’t appear to be one-sided. But, if you listen, he will always come down harder on the Democrats. And he has Republican politicians on as friendly guests all the time.

Glenn is also trying to pull the Republican party to the right.

He’s too smart to go third party.

Been a Rush, Levin AND Beck fan for a long time. Beck’s radio show is almost unlistenable, due to its frequent Morning Zoo nonsense. But his TV show is top-notch. I liked and dislike Beck’s speech. But I think Levin and Rush should have just let it be. I guess their hand was forced once The Gambler (Bennett) wrote his piece on NRO.

I agree with Ann Coulter...”There are a couple of bad Republicans. There are no good Democrats.”

I agree that 'progressive' Republicans need to be defeated, like McCain, but we don't need to attack the GOP for being the same as the Democrats.

In the Primary elect the most conservative Republican you can, and in the General vote Republican.

But by siding with the MSM in their attempt to get us at each others' throats, you have become a useful idiot to them and an accomplice.

What the hell are you talking about?...the "MSM" is late to this party.

This has been a recurring theme on many FR threads for at least a week...probably longer.

Levin has been on Beck's ass for a while now...after ACORN it seems Hannity has given him the cold shoulder. Most of the back and forth fighting has happened without the "MSM" even noticing. It wasn't until Beck addressed CPAC, and the subsequent escalation of attacks on Beck did the "MSM" finally notice. (And Rush was digging at Beck today.)

So, NO, this is NOT freepers being manipulated by the "MSM" into thinking there is conservative infighting, this is the "MSM" finally noticing what freepers have been dismayed about for a while.

For the record...I am a mild Beck fan, but mostly believe the more voices the better. And to clarify even further...if Beck began promoting a third party as an alternative, I would quickly join the ranks of the anti-Beckers, because I believe it is a horrible idea.

No he didn’t by name. It would be in Rush’s best interests to have a beer summit. It would also be a hell of an attention grabber. Bigger than the Obozo scam tomorrow.

man. what a goppalloooza!

For many years now, Rush, Levin, and Hannity have disassociated themselves from Republicans by declaring they are Conservatives, and not the class of Republicans we’ve seen over the last decade. They are not alone.

No registered Republicans is motivated without cause to castigate the representatives. But Republican leadership continually fails the constituency - they are inept, and we are lucky when they get it right. We can’t survive on luck.

The peacocks think they deserve 2010 - they don’t deserve jack - 2010 is the citizens’ election.

The GOP will suck no less next January than now. Count on it.

There are more than a couple bad ones and Ann knows that.

Other than that, we agree.

Does this sound familiar?

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce it's size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is "needed" before I have first determined whether it is Constitutionally permissable. And if I should be attacked for neglecting my constituent's "interests" I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is Liberty, and in that cause I am doing the very best I can.

I abhore politicians that do not adhere to the majority of these ideals, and long to find a candidate that holds them all dear, as I do.

Obviously, your standards only are that they have (R) after their name.

Again, Sir, a pox upon you and like minded "conservatives".

THE THIRD PARTYER in cheif.

GLENN: You know, I have to tell you, the answer is to get away from the two-party system because they are both progressives. Just progressive and progressive light. But they're both progressives and they have been taking us down this road for over 100 years. And everyone says there's no libertarians out there.
