Investors are free to invest in alternative energy sources now, and have been free to do so over the past years, if they desired.

The problem, as Boone Pickens found out, is that for the most part these investments are losers, unless the taxpayers in the so-called “rich” countries transfer wealth from the public to these investors by guaranteeing them a profitable return on their investment.

Everybody wants an excuse to put their hands in the pockets of Americans. They better get while the getting is good, before the country becomes bankrupt.
