Sounds ridiculous. Car thieves crashing through a high security military base gate. Even if they were lost, once they saw they were at a military base, why not turn around rather than risk getting caught? Doesn't pass the smell test. IMO
I’ve been through that gate a time or two.
It’s not all that hard to make that mistake if you’re unfamiliar with the area.
And there are a lot of young hoods in the Phoenix area who don’t have a clue about the US.
It’s happened before. Leads to good episodes of World’s Wildest Police Chases and the like. Some car thief decided that it would be a good idea to get away from the cops by turning into Camp Pendleton. The Marine guards took care of that quickly.
