I bet the car was stolen nearby and had a base sticker on it, and the perps thought that they could just drive around freely on the base with out anybody checking them out. The base cops probably knew about the stolen car and was on the look out for it, a stolen car with a base sticker would be very high risk situation, in which a lot of base security people and local cops would be on the look out for.

I bet the car was stolen nearby and had a base sticker on it, Depends on what Luke is doing these days. The Majority of bases have done away with base stickers since 9/11. Entry onto the base is 100% ID check now.
they did away with the base stickers for just the reason you stated.
