While polls show more people drifting away from acceptance of "global warming," the newest superstar among conservatives Glenn Beck is embracing it.
"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says. He also thinks it could be caused by man's activity.
At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products.
"I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."
The kinder, gentler, greener and warmer side of Beck, known as a firebrand conservative, came to light in an interview in USA Weekend.
Beck also has lots of friends on the other side of the political spectrum, he reveals. He calls George Clooney "a good, honest man." Beck says the two of them had an extended conversation about the genocide in Darfur.
"We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation," Beck says. "That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He's a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it."
Beck's personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate, says the magazine report.

One of his first shows was that hillarious segment on how to properly dispose of a CFL bulb. Hazmat suit, bull horn and all.
Quite frankly the wild lying from his detractors isn’t doing them any favors. Hell I’m a birther and I don’t want anything to do with most of them myself these days.
Oh now you see the light..
Half of the things USA Today wrote were LIES
Its fox tacking left. I am watching less and less.
He debunked the USA Today story quite thoroughly on his radio show. I guess you’re not a listener and get your info from the State Run Media.
I cannot believe people would buy the crap from the MSM
Uh, the story is false. Geez people!
I’m not interested in a flame war, Noob.
Glen Beck is a slithery character. I remember when he stated that he wanted all Ron Paul supporters rounded up and arrested because they were dangerous. Now, he's supposedly a liberatarian. Agree or disagree with the liberatarians, that's quite a flip-flop don't you think?
Beck has built up the trust of the conservatives by reporting on truthful matters. After setting them up, he then throws a curveball. Look at what he recently said about the birthers and how they were dangerous. He also claimed that they were going to physically attack the president. I'm not necessarily a birther, but I do find it odd that so much effort and money has been spent to cover O's records when a certificate could be provided for what, $10 or $20. I'm old enough to know that where there's smoke, there's a fire.
I like some of the exposure that Beck has reported. However, my spidey-sense tells me watch this guy. I personally believe that he is attempting to take control of the tea party movement. If he wants to be a part of the movement, fine, but he's not my leader.
Glenn Beck has been contaminated by Bill O’Reilly. Sucking up to him, hanging out with him, going on tour with him. What you see with Glen Beck is what Bill O’Reilly has been doing for years and it gets him high ratings
Glenn Beck is going for the ratings too....Thus all his lurches to the left. To broaden his appeal.
On radio Glenn also uses his callers as stooges. The caller gets in a line or two then gets flushed or the commercial break kicks in
If WND has stated this correctly about Beck, then I am convinced he is drinking again because one one who is sober could believe this crapola.
Beck is full of crap half the time too. You just cherry pick these folks for the good stuff and accept that they’ll produce crap as well.
Another interesting thing in this article and also concerning to me was the fact that me gives money to liberal groups because his staff does??? Im not sure how you can be a warrior for conservatives and then give money to lib organizations.
He has many liberal pals
Yes, its true. Becks personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate. And let me tell you about Liz Julis, the editor of my magazine, Fusion, he says. Every year, I match charitable donations that my employees make. She ends up giving her money away to some hippie hemp farm somewhere, and she loves to rub it in that Im writing a check for something like that. Shes one of my favorite people because we hardly agree on anything, but we challenge each other.
I bet it was hilarious
The logical progression of Beck’s career goes something like this:

The quote you cite from the article is false per Glenn himself. He sold his home quite a while ago and will only rent. He removed all of the CFL’s because they’re crap. Why do you keep posting this garbage from the State Run Media like it’s fact?
The saddest part is that if Glenn wants to be green its his choice. I don’t believe in man caused global warming but I still do everything I can to avoid polluting and wasting energy.
After all, what kind of fascist clown demands that everyone pollute? I happen to like the high dollar CFLs myself but I’m not going to push them on anyone else.
Is the WorldNutDaily piece mischaracterizing the USA Today-Weekend story, or did USA Today get it wrong. He's quoted here - and presumably - in the USA Today. You can't intentionally misquote people, even famous people, and not get sued for libel.
If it's not true, Beck should demand a retraction/correction. If one isn't forthcoming, then he should sue.
The flack is heaviest when you're over the target. And Beck was right over the target in his CPAC speech. The reaction from the repubLICKan elites on this forum is identical to the kind of reaction that we get from the left whenever we expose their transgressions.
If I were to enter a room tomorrow and the Republican party elites were on one side of the room (presumably the left, given their tendencies over the last few years) and Glenn Beck were on the other, I would most certainly walk towards Beck. He and I have much more in common.
Jumped the shark? You've got to be out of your mind. Beck got standing ovations during his speech, and he was right on the money. The party is broken, and it isn't showing any signs of recognizing its own ills. Until the party leadership gets it's "collective" head out of its a$$, it will not again embrace conservatism, the constitution, or a small, unobtrusive government.
I bet when he took the CFL’s out of his house he gave them to someone who wanted them.
