Why do we have so many problems in the public schools?
Im always trying to boil the answer down to the essentials. This try is less than 600 words. Here's how it starts:

There is a very good book called “Super Crunchers” and in it the author described the type of schooling that is most effective. Unfortunately, I left the book at work. The essense was that the teachers follow a script but I don’t remember what the method is called. Any freepers out there with a copy of “Super Crunchers” handy?
Let me clear this up for you very quickly. Public education is organized according to socialist principles. There are two things we know about socialism:
1. It never works.
2. Socialism is unreformable.
If you are willing to face this truth, you can then come up with solutions. Failing that, whatever you do is futile.
