Another reason is that Switzerland has a non-interventionist foreign policy and minds its own business. A worthy model for us in more ways than one.
Belgium had a similiar policy and we see how that worked out. Swiss can afford such a policy because of its geography.
Yeah, sure, Paultard. Comparing a small nation surrounded by natural defenses to a large country like the United States really is apples to apples. More like apples to fruitcakes in your case.
And their Navy just lost the America's Cup.
Yeah so what if they make money off of Holocaust victims, it's just business.
Ya mean they're not sending hundreds of billions to every other country on earth in the form of foreign aid?
I could not agree more.
How noble. I'm sure it was especially appreciated by the 6+ million Jews who died right next door, as the Swiss made cheese and chocolate.
There are thousands of Muslims who have "intervened" in Switzerland: the Swiss' turn is coming up.
There was an eminently practical reason that Hitler left Switzerland alone. They were useful as a neutral arbiter and escrow agent for international financial transactions, even during the war.
That the Swiss have been non-interventionist is sortof moot. They haven't had the military capacity to intervene even locally, let alone globally. Had Germany seriously wanted to take Switzerland they certainly could have, difficult as the mountain passes may be. They'd have held out for a while but would've eventually been overwhelmed. It was the bankers, not the soldiers or leaders that gave Switzerland the luxury of remaining neutral.

It’s not working
Swiss leave Tripoli embassy after Libya stand-off
“TRIPOLI (Reuters) Two Swiss businessmen left the shelter of their country’s embassy in Tripoli on Monday after Libyan police surrounded the building, apparently avoiding a major confrontation in a row which has drawn in governments across Europe.
In Brussels, Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger said the police had threatened to storm the embassy if Tripoli’s ultimatum to hand over the two men was not heeded, and many EU ambassadors had gone to the building “to show solidarity.”
