BRIGHTON, Mich. -- Administrators at Brighton High School said they’re trying to stop a style of dancing they consider obscene on school grounds and recently canceled a popular winter event to make their point.

Officials were concerned students would engage in “freaking" or sexually suggestive movements on the dance floor.

The school required anyone interested in attending the Feb. 6 Winterfest dance to sign a contract beforehand, Detroit television station WDIV reported.

You’re right, but it’s not always the big things. It can also be many small things, like condoms, freak-dancing, etc.

When the general public accepts this type of behavior, then the bigger problems will start.

LOL. I care nothing about giving away my age. In fact, I’m glad I lived through that generation.

I am, however, very disappointed in the Boomers who have taken over our country.

Exactly. The female “presents.”

I remember as a young person walking through the Monkey House at the zoo for the first time. I was agape at how promiscuous these creatures were, hopping on and off multiple partners in a few minutes time.

Now we need only go to a high school dance to witness Monkey House behavior.

God bless you! Keep on homeschooling!

Your kids aren’t missing out on a thing except vile behavior you wouldn’t want them to witness at any age.

I never mentioned social “progress”. You did. Straw man.

We are animals. So we act like animals. By definition.

I’m sort of a private person myself. I wouldn’t behave this way. I don’t approve of it. I wouldn’t want my children to do it.

That’s borderline racism, you know.

My husband’s response when I was anxious about home schooling the kids was always, “Think of what they are NOT learning.”

I remain so very glad about what they did not learn, because we avoided ‘real’ high school......

Oye.

I haven’t attended a school dance since the 10th grade (which was only 9 years ago). I never went to my prom but I also am at the age where I know exactly what goes on at these “dances”. To be honest, it’s not what goes on at the dance that worries me as much as what goes on afterwards. I picked my 13 year old cousin up at a middle school dance one night. All her friends had some pretty revealing clothes on, getting into their parents cars and being taken to the next “party”. She was a little PO’ed I told her to get in the car with her friends watching, but we had a long talk on the way home about where her “friends” will be in 4 years if they keep it up.

We are not animals.

We are mankind, made in the image of God, fallen into sin. There is a hug difference.

When animals do what comes naturally, they do no wrong. When we do what comes naturally, we do nothing but wrong.

There is no need for redemption for animals.

There is need for, and provision for redemption of mankind.

Social progress was implied; in that “we did suggestive dancing back then, this is just similiar but a bit more, progress of time, etc”.

If I am wrong and you didn’t mean that, let me know.

We are not animals - we are souls with human bodies, and we have the free will to act like animals or control our senses and act like civilized human beings.

A truly bizarre assertion.

Did you take a look at any of the photos on this thread? I used to go to some dances in the 60s and this stuff is way, way beyond anything I ever saw.

Live and let live means let humans acting like animals in rut take over not only the high school dances but the beaches and parks.

It’s about 3 fibers away from live sex in public.

Your choice - act like an animal without any self control or higher understanding or consciousness, letting insticts and desires have free rein without any remorse or thinking of consequences; or use freel will to act as a human should.

Your choice. Everyone’s choice.

This is the traditional Judeo-Christian assertion that man is basically evil, and requires redemption. The fabric of our society unravels at the rapid pace we see precisely because of the post modern abandonment of this very significant postulate: Man sins because he is a sinner.

A world view which presumes that people are basically good will produce a much different result than one which presumes the opposite. Until post WWI, we had the opposite. Even anecdotally, the point is made.

That’s borderline racism, you know.

Wait a minute, you go from one post saying we are animals, and then you decry a similarity noticed between the behaviors of some humans and those of some animals?

Are you feeling OK?

Some things don’t change much. Such as, men and women dancing together is a mating ritual. And also, teens push the boundaries established by their parents.

Other things change constantly. Such as, what is the current hairstyle. Or what is acceptable appearance and behavior in public. Never did I mean to imply that I believe that all change is positive.
