Hard to blame them, since the implicit premise of this renewed effort is that the public is way too stupid to know what’s good for them, hence their “betters” in the WH and Congress need to just ignore election results and public opinion polls and pass what the far left wing of the Democrats think is best. In short, the public be damned.

Had there been public polling among the serfs in the Middle Ages, it’s a safe bet that monarchs were held in similar low esteem.
