However, Levin does seem concerned that Beck could lead a wide audience down the third party path, or cause some other fragmentation. This is a real concern addressed frequently by Rush, and now by Levin.I don't get why everyone thinks the Tea Parties are going to result in a third party when every indicator points to Ron Paul and the Paulistinians. He was practically a third party candidate running as a Republican.
His followers have reached the level of a cult. While I'm very encouraged by the number of young people at CPAC, they love Ron Paul, and a lot of them think like Meghan McCain and want the social issues dropped from the platform.
As many of the wiser speakers pointed out, you cannot separate social issues from economics and economics drives foreign policy. They are far more likely to make an emotional break from the GOP over legalizing gay marriage and pot than we level headed mortgage paying Tea Partiers.

And a lot of them are peaceniks and a lot of them are a little too interested in automatic weapons, I also heard one laugh about stealing computers from the opposition. They are an amalgamation of ne'er do wells and hard heads.
