“Do you think he might have been referring to Americans? Me, too.”
Not me.
Let’s see, what example comes to mind when one thinks of abusing nationalism? To be abusive that nationalism would have to stand for something that might harm others. How about that fellow Adolf with his Third Reich and all those swastika emblazoned flags? That might be a good example, Mr. Morrissey. Somehow, stars, stripes, mom and apple pie just don’t measure up!
I don't...I think he's referring to the Soviets and East Germans who would drug up their athletes to win in the name of nationalism....
Why not? Is patriotism only cool when everyone else is doing it?
As Chevalier said: "Between men and women there is little difference- but vive le difference!"
I go to Calgary and Edmonton monthly. My Canadian colleagues in Alberta tell me that if a vote was held for Alberta to become a state, it would probably lose, but just barely. The anti Americanism is not as prevalent as some may think.
“Bomb Canada: The Case for War”
Jonah Goldberg, National Review

The Olys have always been vocalized in French and English. That wasn’t just a nod to the lunatic fringe, it was the rules.
“French and English are the official languages of the Olympic Movement. The other language used at each Olympic Games is the language of the host country. Every proclamation (such as the announcement of each country during the parade of nations in the opening ceremony) is spoken in these three languages, or the main two depending on whether the host country is an English or French speaking country.”
In this case, since Canada is both English and French speaking, we got time saved!
Since over two thirds of Canada is English speaking, and the Winter Olympics are being held in the Canadian Province of British Columbia, not Quebec, the intros should have been in English first, then French.
I watched the opening ceremonies, but haven’t watched anything else. My husband, who is Canadian, kinda/sorta follows them.
There was a post about Canada’s ‘OWN THE PODIUM’ $110 million program...
It was posted as ‘OH..THE PODIUM?”
I hope Team USA wins later tonight.
No, I think he was referring to the Axis powers and the Soviet Union.
Screw you Morrissey
Sorry.
Next time I will post the “Not this Sh*t Again” graphic for people like yourself who are completely full of it and get offended by other people breathing.
How’s that work for you Mr. Pomposity?
I agree. Unfortunately, people like Morrissey are a dime a dozen...no shortage of them.
I suppose I should have put a warning that I was posting to the AUTHOR of the piece. That you posted it is the only reason you were pinged.
Once again, SHEESH!
First shot on goal, USA scores!
LOL.
No your not. I can’t stand to even watch the commercials for them. I think it’s the biggest hype over nothing. You want to see real athletes? Go to a Little League baseball game. I do sometimes. These kids really put thier hearts in it for the sake of the game.
SHOT SCOREEEEEEEE.
They kind of act like jagmos, win or lose.
