It going to be interesting, as it looks like from the Early Voting numbers turnout is on pace to match or be higher than the 550,000 early vote in the primary in 2008, that equal 1.36 million votes overall in the repulican primary. Most people were guess anywhere from 600,000 to about 900,000 votes overall. I have a feeling that Kay Bay has been underpolled for a while now and I’m starting to wonder if it not playing out with higher turnout numbers.

I am not in favor. Kay Baily would likely to bring her Washington game to Austin. There no one looks at how much money is coming in, and she would continue to do what she is good at, which is to bring pork home to be distributed among her contributors. The rationale about getting as much for one’s state is that, well, we send all this money to DC, why not try to get as much back as possible. It turns into a scamble among the chimps for the bananas. We have seen how it all turns out. The state end up being controlled by remote and blind federal agencies. And by remote, I mean if offices they happen to be in Dallas or Houston. They are disconnected from the ordinary voter, except through one’s congressman. And, yes, I know that the game is essentially the same as it was in Washington’s time, but the size of it is now so large that the smallstakeholder is totally upable to get a place at the table. This, as much as anything is the cause of the Tea Party ruckus. Even fairly well-to-do local elites have been frozen out. Texas by itself is now large enough to run its own game. If we are not careful, however, we will end up like California.
