LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- We've all heard of road rage, but plane rage? If you've ever tried to figure out an IRS notice or clear up a problem with your tax bill, you may understand Joseph Stack's sense of helpless frustration.
However, if you read his final letter, you will not understand what his tax problem really was or how IRS was at fault. A close reading of his sad rant seems to show that his most recent problem was caused by his accountant, who omitted $12,700 of Stack's wife's income, causing an audit. Perhaps that office building housed both the IRS offices and those of his accountant?
The kamikaze attack on an office building with IRS offices in it was a remarkably childish act, like a 5-year-old running away, saying "You'll see! When I'm gone you'll be sorry!" All the while expecting to see his parents' reaction and get satisfaction from their distress.

For Joseph Stack, he chose the IRS.
Most of BO’s “czars” prefer to blame TurboTax.
This Stack idiot reminds me a lot of the Unibomber.
The IRS, really does need to consider having some courses taught about customer treatment. They eat nails for breakfast, it doesn´t HELP to be nice at this job. And it´s the tax cheats that makes those who try to be honest flare up. I predict there will be more of this stuff, Washington DC needs to reign in their uncontrolled spending. Starting with Barry, let´s suggest a pay cut.

The article describes a taxpayer who accidently put the wrong account info on her return, causing the IRS to deposit the refund into someone’s else’ account - the someone else withdrew the money. Actually, the “someone else” committed a crime, and could be sued for conversion by the taxpayer (at least in CA), and could recoup the missing refund plus punitive damages. The moral here - if money is mistakenly deposited into your account, it’s not yours.
Congress’ fault, esp Rangel.
IRS operates like a streetcar on rails. It goes all around but very predictably. If you want to avoid being run over, you just have to look down at the rails and move over a bit. All of the authority of IRS persons is contained in the Internal Revenue Manual. If it isn’t in the IRM, they can’t do it. If it is in the IRM, they have to do it. Every letter, every notice, every hearing and every approval or denial is specified in the IRM. Persons who have disputes with the IRS who have not read the applicable provisions of the IRM, are morons.
I’ve had my share of IRS problems in my life time but I’ve never considered murder/suicide to be an option to solve them.
We did our taxes today. I am beyond livid. We reduced our deductions from last years debacle where we owed a ton and find that even with a single allowance matching our situation, we owe a ton.
This on top of a large reduction in my wages this year thanks to the Obaconomy.
I just got laid off, but I guess I should set aside some as next year no doubt I will owe again.
.
Has he plead guilty or just blown-off the whole issue?
One advantage to my layoff is that I intend to spend the rest of my life as a leach. This after having some sort of job to go to since I was 9 years old.
I am Atlas and I have shrugged.
Wait till they tax the elk.
They already do. Along with the gas, the booze, the tobacco, the bacon, the beans, the biscuits, the ammo and everything else it takes.
The only thing not taxed is the carbon dioxide I exhale while marching around looking for the vermin (woops, better not say that).
I think he’s too big to fail.
