We have laws governing the humane killing of cows. The whales are not privy to the same, and often suffer a great deal and take a long time to die.
If cows were slaughtered in this country the way whales are by Japan and Norway, the USDA would shut them down.
So be careful with your comparisons.

So if the whales died an instant painless death you would be okay with it? Since you implied that just seeing whales somehow was a trans formative event, I doubt it.
