Another Washington State Democrat is throwing in the towel!
This is not confirmed yet, but I just received an e-mail from a very reliable local source, who says Washington State Representative Deb Wallace is not only abandoning her campaign for Brian Bairds US House seat here in the 3rd CD, she is not running for reelection to her State House seat in Olympia, either. Baird (D. Vancouver) announced he was not seeking another term just last month.
Wallace was the only local Democrat running for Bairds seat with any real legs in my view, and if she is backing out that means good things for Jaime Herrera, the young State House Republican who is running for Bairds seat as well.
No doubt confirmation will be forthcoming in the media, but apparently Wallace made this statement at a Neighborhood Association meeting in front of a lot of people. My source was there and spoke to her personally after the meeting. Wallace is apparently endorsing someone, but no firm word on who that might be, yet.
I'm surprised, because Deb Wallace is one of the more secure Democrats around here and I figured she was a shoe-in among the Dems for Baird's seat. She's been in office for a number of years and if she is hanging it up, you know things are getting really uncomfortable politically.

Thanks for the info. Good early Freeper news.
BTTT
I also heard rumor that Bayh from Indiana is about to have a bimbo eruption.
The reason for his withdrawel.
It is hard to represent people when the majority disagree with the programs the Democrats are pushing.
When we originally designed that district, it was intended as a swing district. I am not sure what has happened to it in recent years however I understand that a Republican has a fair chance to carry it.
Wallace didn’t stand a chance anyways.
Denny Heck will get the nod from the Dems I’m sure.
What we don’t need is all the outside money coming in from party insiders to get Herrera nominated.
We don’t need a “conservative Republican” who advocates forcing childcare centers into unions.
We have an interesting political dynamic down here. Vancouver has the 49th State District that is widely considered one of the most liberal in Washington, and it is represented by the openly homosexual Jim Moeller and the rookie Jim Jacks in the House and Craig Pridemore in the Senate.
We also have the 17th on the other side of I-5 in Vancouver, that is represented by Wallace and the rookie Dhimmie tim Probst. Republican Senator Don Benton, one of the only Republicans left in Olympia is also in the 17th, and HE is challenging Patty Murray for HER US Senate seat...
Probst is in office only because he ran against the biggest Republican do-nothing loser in that seat, Jim Dunn. The local Republicans never challenged him in the primary, and he was such a reprobate that Ronald McDonald could have beat him.
We are also in the 3rd Congressional District, which covers most of Southwest Washington, and has proven to be a very tight rope for Brian Baird to negotiate; in fact TOO tight of a rope, which is one of the major reasons he is not running for reelection.
My guess is that Deb Wallace will likely return to teaching, probably at WSU Vancouver. She has always been a big education advocate, and I expect she will return to that field in some way.
I met her once at a meeting for the Columbia Crossing Project, the replacement for the bridge over the Columbia River that carries Interstate 5; and she was one of the only political people I ever discussed the project with that clearly understood the flaws in it that have prevented any progress on it for over a decade. Washington State is spending $1 Million Dollars a month on the project office, it is going exactly nowhere, and Deb Wallace is one of the only politicians I ever heard express enough concern about it to consider shutting it down completely. She never did anything toward those ends so it was all talk, but at least she was willing to talk about it, which is more than I can say for many others.
As for her replacement, it ought to be one hell of a Primary fight for the Dhimmies, because that is who is out raving for a Candidate who will plug Socialized Health Care, Medicare for all, ande immediate closing of Guantanamo, etc., etc,. ad infinitum, ad nauseum...
Suddenly with one move by a senior Democrat, (ala Evan “Buh” Bayh), the entire political scene has changed down here. Unemployment is probably going to be approaching 16% by April in Southwest Washington, and I expect torches, pitchforks and a whole lot of angry people down here by election day in November. The job situation in about ten of the Southwest Washington Counties is extremely grim and approaching Detroit.
This ain’t the Puget Sound down here, but we do have a couple of good opportunities for the right Conservative candidates who really want to be on the cutting edge, to run a good campaign and go make a real difference. Don Benton ain’t it. We need good, young blood down here, like Jaime Herrera, to jump in and get elected now that opportunity is knocking the door down...
Things suddenly got interesting...
What we don’t need is a bunch of sit on the fence (small “l”) libertarians running “alternative” candidates that don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning anything, but stand an excellent chance of getting more liberals elected.
Just sayin’ Lew.
Sorry BC, but the sort of candidate you mention describes Jaime Herrera to a tee, with her co-sponsorship and votes on HB 1329, which would force childcare providers into public unions.
It would cover any childcare provider that accepts state funds for low-income families. As written, it would divert a aprtion of what the state pays to providers and send it directly to the unions as “dues.”
That is taking money directly away from children, which would end up with tax raises to send more to the providers to make it up, or the providers would have to raise their rates to all families.
As written, it also places state supervision over providers curriculum, even Church providers.
Benton and Zarelli have been successful in making the bill a one year study instead of mandating unionization right away.
You may not like hearing it, but that is exactly the sort of legislation we have been blasting the Dems about for a long time.
And no, we don’t need “libertarian” lights running. That is why I have consistently backed David Castillo, who was the first to enter to run against Baird and who has the largest funds collected amongst the GOP candidate currently.
Jaime showed immaturity and an amateurish act by calling me at home the evening of the 9th to ask why I don’t support her and to “clear some things up.”
I’m still waiting on the promised email explanation she promised.
Yes, she’s busy, but she was able to take time out to fly back to D.C. to attend a fund raiser of party insiders on her behalf hosted by McMorris Rodgers & Gorton.
The other two should drop out and get behind one or the other.
THAT deserves its own thread....think I’ll post the link on my Facebook....thanks, Bay

MATH EDUCATION: AN INCONVENIENT THRUTH: Video.

My 2nd graders Kent school started using the Everyday Mathematics talked about in the video back in the Bush years and the school district went from being the best in the state to one of the worse. This math is HORRIBLE.
It’s second grade math and My wife and I have a hard time helping my son with his homework. None of the algorithms we used to add, subtract, multiply or divide are taught at his school. Instead they use complex algorithms hard for anyone but math geeks can understand.
