Did you know that his shipyard could turn out liberty ships in less than a week? They were some 400+ feet long and over 2500 were built during the war. It's one of the most remarkable feats of the American industrial machine, perhaps ever.

The fastest build on a Liberty was 4 days,15 hours and change at the Kaiser yard in Richmond,CA. Truly an amazing feat. If you look on Google Earth, you can see the remnants of the yard still there, mostly as ruins. I’ve driven around the area, but couldn’t quite make out the exact location. They do have a Victory ship there being slowly fixed up as a museum.
