Also, he received more money from military members than any other candidate in the 2008 primaries making him supported by another huge block of voters that can make a difference.
Finally, who is more to-the-right than Ron Paul? Nobody. And, then he's resonating with the young voters? That's unheard of up until now. No other candidate can claim these things - not even Sarah Palin.
The problem with this argument is that it doesn't ask itself why Ron Paul has such a large following among typically leftist college students. It's because he's an anti-military, anti-war kook who is basically Code Pink in a sport coat. These kids are not going Ron Paul because of any commitment to constitutional principles or smaller government. They are going Ron Paul because they think he's a good vehicle to use to try to create TWO anti-military, anti-American parties. They have the Dems, now use Ron Paul to Code Pink the GOP as well.
Thinking that Ron Paul is going to be able to convert these kids into small government Reaganites is laughable on its face. That can only happen after they get out of college, have a couple of small businesses fail because of the regulations and taxes, and see 40% of their incomes disappear down the maw of the welfare state. THAT'S what will convert them into conservatives.
