WASHINGTON Former Secretary of State Alexander Haig, who served Republican presidents and ran for the office himself, has died.

I watch him live that day...no tinfoil hat used nor required to be shocked at that statement..
Thank You.. It helped me to understand better, and will be an educational tool for my homeschooler.
R.I.P., General.
The Marxist sympathizing press is despicable and wicked to their core.
Alexander Haig helped convince Richard Nixon to airlift sorely needed weaponry to Israel during the 1973 war. Haig was a real friend of Israel
RIP to my former Commander, and inventor of “Combat Football!”.
Worst wakeup to Fox News Channel since 9/11. RIP.
The fact that everyone is discussing one misconstrued statement he made shows just how effective the liberal smear machine was even twenty nine years ago.
Whatever you do tsmith, do not google his name. You'd think it was Alexander "I'm in Charge" Haig.
RIP. Prayers for his family.
Trivia question on a sad day: what do Al Haig, Air Force General Hap Arnold, Gong Show host Chuck Barris, and Kobe Bryant have in common?
I bet some freeper will know that one.
“We need more military running for office.”
...fine by me after they RESIGN their commission...this goes back to Washington who resigned his commission after the Revolution and THEN got into politics.
The emphasis was on the word "here" meaning in the White House, until then Vice President George Herbert Walker Bush returned.
On all counts, Haig was 100% correct. The media intentionally distorted his comments to make the story bigger, and to try and make the Reagan Administration (who the media HATED) look incompetent.
For those who were feeble enough minded then ... and now... to fall for it, they did.
The rest of us then ... and now know better.
I still remember the day like it was yesterday.
Imagine how the world would have been different if General Haig had won the Republican nomination in 1988 ...
So did I. I understood the remark in its proper context.
*************************
Exactly right.
I’m not an ass.
In fact, if you read my remarks correctly, you will realize that what I was saying is that his life and accomplishments were ERASED (by his own lips, btw) by an incredibly stupid comment.
Again, I repeat: “If HRC did this, FreeRepublic would be ON FIRE.”
My comparison to Obama refers to disinterest in the rule of law, and the rules in general. And I stand by those comments; I fear we’re about to see them on steroids.
There is a REASON why people associate Sec. Haig with that comment and it’s often the first thing they think of when they hear his name: It was absolutely stunning at the time. Regular people, that I know, looked around at each other and said out loud “What the hell?”
I’d invite you to kiss my ass, but I don’t want you all that close, sparky.
And even moreso today. A lie told 29 years ago still works on the feeble minded today.
“Alexander Haig, former secretary of state, dies”
God rest his soul.
They all went to the same high school in Philly.
