Hundreds, if not thousands of people have taken to the streets of the capital, Niamey, Saturday in support of the military junta who seized power in a coup this week.

Demonstrators were also out on the streets Friday showing their support for the coup that ousted the increasingly unpopular president, Mamadou Tandja.

The demonstration of support comes as condemnations pour in from the international community.

On Friday, the African Union suspended Niger and demanded a return to constitutional order.

from the article:

President Tandja had grown increasingly unpopular since changing the constitution to extend his rule in office.

When Niger's parliament and constitutional court said the referendum was illegal, President Tandja dismissed both and ruled by decree.

Last year, we commended the Hondurans for ousting Manuel Zelaya. Now this year, we commend the Nigers for ousting Mamdou Tandja.

When will America out Barack Hussein Obama?

This never ceases to irritate me. If what we are reading about the situation in Niger is correct, then it sounds exactly like what happened in Honduras. Of course, the worthless and mostly ill-informed "international community" condemned that action as well.

WTF is wrong with these morons? Can't these useless diplomats and other fools get their facts straight before issuing a condemnation? If anything, we should be cheering the fact that yet another country is using the rule of law to lawfully depose an illegitimate ruler.

If Niger is moving closer to being ruled by law, instead of by men, as a result of this action, then we should be all for it.

They are closet supporters of dictators and haters of free leaders. That's why.

True.

Really? Does anyone remember the African Union's response when Zero's relatives and other fellow Moslems rejected the election results in Kenya and tried to overthrow constitutional government there, committing atrocities in the process? Thanks myknowledge.

Why would a dictator be happy about the people in his buddy dictator’s country throwing his buddy out for treating the country like his private playground? Might give his own people some ideas.

The ‘useless diplomats and fools’ have their uses for the corrupt governments and politicians they work for, though little for you and me, or the ‘people’ they supposedly work for.

Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Muammar Qaddafi and Vladimir Putin have all praised Barack Obama. When enemies of freedom and democracy praise your president, what are you to think? When you add to this Barack Obama’s many previous years of associations and alliances with people who hate America— Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Pfleger, etc.— at what point do you stop denying the obvious and start to connect the dots?
