I don’t have a problem with most of it. I do believe everyone should be treated equally under the law...however, I believe marriage is a religious institution and don’t believe the government should be in the marriage business at all. I’ve never served in the military, so I do not feel I can speak intelligently as to the positives/negatives of DADT. I do however find it interesting that while all of this bickering is going on about allowing gay and lesbian individuals to serve openly in the military, one (or possibly more) America-hating muslim extremist(s) attempted to and/or succeeded in murdering our men and women in uniform. Our men and women at Ft. Hood have paid the price and now Ft. Jackson may have been vulnerable to an attack from within. IMO, that is the bigger issue that is not being adequately addressed.

Also, I’m NOT a member of the GOP and am a libertarian-leaning independent. So there’s your context. I just do not like stereotypes. I did not appreciate being called an evil, dirty Republican when I voted for Bush in 2004, nor do I appreciate being called a right-wing extremist for holding a sign at a tea party. None of those labels describe me (or all of Republicans and tea partiers for that matter) yet they are used time and time again to describe larger groups with which I have aligned myself at one point or another. So in this respect, I find it inappropriate to assign the gay mafia label, or any other stereotype, to a very diverse group of people. Believe it or not, marriage equality is not a huge issue for the ENTIRE gay community.

There is not such thing as the “gay community”. There are individuals who identify (at least for the time being) as homosexual. Many do change. Homosexuality is a psychological illness.

Those who push the homosexual agenda are trying to destroy the natural family which is the basic foundation of human civilization. They want to change all the rules of society and this cannot be allowed or tolerated.

Just because someone has never been in the military doesn’t mean they can’t have an intelligent, informed opinion about DADT. Muslims shoudln’t be allowed in the military, either.

You have just exampled the success of the homosexual lobby in equating freedoms based upon such non-moral aspects as race, ethnicity, etc., with a behavior, yet warn of Muslim extremist attacking from within. It is exactly that which the homosexual movement is engaged in, and its means and effect are far more insidious that that of a bomb.

While you are for liberty, do not imagine you have that, or smaller government, when the moral ethos which homosexuality is part of gains ascendancy, unless your idea of liberty is that of moral anarchy.

>Believe it or not, marriage equality is not a huge issue for the ENTIRE gay community.<

True, it is manifest that it typically has little to do with marriage, but about affirming homosexuality as normative, and imposing acceptance of it, while statistics evidence even those that who marry redefine the traditional monogamous nature of it.

Of course, the real issue is whether conservative or liberals are going to imagine an American dream that does not uphold Christian Biblical morality, or that without that America would not have become the leader of the free world, morally and otherwise. See my above 1104 post.
