Look, people have been studying whales and ‘whale songs’ for quite a while.

Haven’t they identified a distress call yet?

Maybe instead of Greenpeace trying to ram large steel ships with zodiacs...

we could broadcast distress calls around the whaling ships and as in the old west...

turn the herd.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not a tree or whale hugger, but do we really have to do this?

At the very least, we should hang it up for 20 years or so and let them replenish...

and not just whales,...

has anyone else read about the depletion of the worlds fishing grounds?

I agree with you.

Why should an industry be allowed to destroy a species to feed rich Japanese (or anybody) with a taste for the exotic? I equate commercial whaling with killing rhinos for their horns or elephants for their tusks. Industry based purely on greed.

Lots of people like deer meat. Why not industrialize deer hunting & serve venison at restaurants? Kill them to extinction.

Perhaps we will take a liking to robins, so let's eat them until they are gone. Not that we really need to eat robins, they just are cool to eat. And very profitable for the robin hunting industry.

Also, industrial fishing operations (including shrimpers) deplete fish stocks, & the gov’t responds by regulating recreational fishing to oblivion. My last fishing trip costs me about $60 per pound of fillets, & it was a good day.

I kinda like the whales, deer, robins, fish, & all the others. I even tolerate snakes, because they eat rats, though not to extinction, because they are not that stupid.
