EPA drawing more flak on GHG emissions plan

Resistance is growing to a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) attempt to regulate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the federal Clean Air Act, with several states and industry groups challenging the move.

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Washington, was one of several groups and interested parties that filed petitions in advance of the Feb. 17 deadline to challenge the EPA’s “Endangerment Filing,” in which the federal agency wants to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act.

The AISI earlier this week said it was challenging the EPA’s Endangerment Finding on the grounds that its analysis of the evidence and its process for reaching its findings were “fundamentally inadequate” (AMM, Feb. 17).

Petitions also have been filed in the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia by Gerdau Ameristeel Corp., Tampa, Fla.; Peabody Energy Corp., St. Louis; such industry groups as the National Mining Association and...

Science is never settled. The remark that the science is settled proves that the EPA is lying. The last rule of the scientific method is to reexamine the whole thing.
