The “white horse prophecy” is a false prophecy by Joseph Smith when he was running for POTUS in 1844 that stated that the “Elders of Zion” (Mormons) would come in and rescue America when the constitution was “hanging by a thread”.

Of course, underlying this prophesy is the idea that America will then stream into the LDS Church.

I actually think that if Romney wins the nomination, it will be the worst thing that ever happened to the LDS Church. The Obama and the Democrats and their mainstream media allies will make the Mormons and indirectly Romney look like a total bunch of weirdos.

There are enough quirky aspects of Mormonism (particularly when exaggerated) that even the average unchurched American won't see them as a sect of Christianity but instead as an odd cult. All those millions and millions of dollars of advertising by the LDS Church to gain mainstream acceptance will be undone by the relentless media campaign aimed at discrediting Romney but which will smear all Mormons.

You have a point. The LDS church cannot withstand scrutiny.

I know, I used to be LDS and, silly me, I believed the LDS leaders when they said to investigate that the LDS would withstand criticism. Not even close. I was out in less than a year after I really started researching.
