There is nothing wrong with him saying that he wants to finish out his term, but to bring in his re-election in 2012 is sickening.

That, in all seriousness, is a case of the Democrats whistling past the graveyard.

Maybe the Torch will be rehabilitated and run next time. /sarc

Frank Lautenberg’s spokesman Caley Gray told POLITICO that the ailing New Jersey Democrat will NOT be able to return to Washington in time for the cloture vote on the jobs bill, scheduled for Monday, James Hohmann reports.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been struggling to get a 60th vote to push his $15 billion package, and Lautenberg’s absence will now require at least two Republicans’ votes to bring the bill to the floor on the timetable the Democrats have outlined.
