I wonder if Phil Jones realizes that when he stated there has been no statistically significant warming in the last 15 years, that the time frame includes the 1997/1998 El Nino. Always wondered about those record breaking atmospheric temps. That El Nino occurred during a cold sun cycle (after minimum) and really would have had a hard time setting large scale atmospheric temp records. Obviously tropical and sub tropical Pacific waters were warm, but did it really affect the Globe significantly ? According to Phil, no. Unless of course he misspoke and meant to say 12 years.
