I'm not trying to confuse tactics with intentions.

I think this is a very important point that you bring up.

It was said that Timothy McVeigh was able to justify the OKC bombings in his own mind by agreeing with the philosophical premise of "The Turner Diaries," namely:

1. If the government becomes a tyranny, and
2. The government was freely elected

Then all of the following are valid targets of physical violence:

1. Government leaders because they are enacting the tyrannical laws and overseeing the whole process
2. Government agents because they are enforcing the tyrannical laws
3. Average citizens because they voted in the tyrants.

I know you don't believe that, but I do believe that the nutjob who flew his plane into the IRS probably believed something like this. In his screed he blames the leaders, the enforcers, and the general public. He aims at the enforcers because he believes it will have the greatest impact, not because he believes they are any more or less culpable.

I believe that the general public is just as responsible for the general state of things as are our leaders. The enforcers of the law are probably the least culpable as they are merely enforcing laws that were crafted by duly elected officials.

I believe that justice will only come when our debts reach so high that huge sections of the populace are crushed under its weight. Europe is now feeling this as their population ages and their welfare payments start outstripping their tax base. Because we did capitalism a bit better than they did, we have a little more ways to go before the pile of debt collapses.

It would be nice if we could solve the problem before the problem destroys our country, but it looks like the general public is bound and determined to drive over the cliff before they apply the brakes.

This nutjob's plane was just a pesky little mosquito squashed by the windshield of the wreck we're driving headlong over the precipice.

Tyranny could accelerate as the debt bubble pops, and as history has foretold, our republic will likely complete it’s transition to a dictatorship. The alternative is anarchy. Neither model is conducive to justice for most, but hopefully the architects of the various financial schemes will be grubbing for food like the rest of us.
