I say again, nobody should ever have any sort of a career or money incentive to put people in prison. I'm sick of these stories about the Nifongs, Ronnie Earles, Harshbargers, Coakleys et al of the world. The job of DA needs to be abolished along with the entire "adversarial" system of justice and we need to adopt something more like the French system in which the common incentive of all parties involved in any court procedure is to determine facts.

Amazingly enough, the local rag here in Durham (the Herald-Sun) had absolutely nothing about this on their website this morning. Surely that’s just a minor oversight, y’think? *cough*
And actually? Until I see a picture, I’m holding some doubt that it’s the same Crazy Crystal. IIRC her middle name was spelled “Gail” and this one is “Gale.” It could be a typo, but “Mangum” is a very common last name around Durham. And the fact that no mention was made in even that small a blurb about the Duke case is a little surprising. So we’ll see.

Durham police arrest Duke lacrosse accuser Crystal Gale Mangum, 33, after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him.

DURHAM (WTVD) — The woman who was the center of the infamous Duke Lacrosse rape case has been arrested and charged with assault.
Durham police say officers responded to a domestic call on Lincoln Street just before midnight Thursday.
According to officers, 32-year-old Crystal Gale Mangum got into an argument with her boyfriend, Milton Walker, which resulted in her assaulting him.
According to the arrest warrant, Mangum scratched, punched and threw objects at Walker before setting his clothes on fire in a bathtub.
Police had to evacuate three children, Mangum and Milton from the apartment. The children are ages 10, 9 and 3. The Durham County magistrate would not confirm if the children are Mangum’s. Firefighters were dispatched to put the fire out and no one was injured.
Mangum is charged with with five counts of arson, simple assault, ID theft, communicating a threat, damage to property and resist, delay and obstruction. She also faces three counts of child endangerment.
The magistrate told Eyewitness News Mangum is also charged with first-degree attempted murder for communicating a threat. She allegedly told Walker in front of officers, “I’m going to stab you [expletive]!”
Nearly four years ago, Mangum, who was an exotic dancer, accused three Duke Lacrosse players of raping her at an off campus party.
The case made international news and the charges against the Duke students were eventually dismissed.
Since the case, Mangum graduated from North Carolina Central University and wrote a book. “The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story,” which was released in 2008.
She is being held without bond and her first court appearance is scheduled for today.
Sounds like she is also a bipolar crack whore.
