That was 2002. The year he graduated from HS and right before he deployed the first time. He was SO proud to shake hands with his CinC!
And he's just as sweet now as he was then. He remembers you fondly, Nan. I wish you could see him now. A man. A real man!
(And I eventually did wash my cheek. ;*)
Well, when you next see that "Man", you tell him that he is still my hero. And give him a big hug and kiss for me. You know, we really do need to have another "lunch". My life is such a mess right now. Old age is not for wimps. I can't seem to keep up with this big house (Kathey has been sitting with her dying aunt for almost a year), babysitting Emma who should have gone to school last fall, but her kindergarten teacher Mom thought she was not emotionally mature enough. The kid has been reading since age 3 and going to pre-school since that age too. I adore her of course, but keeping her entertained and challenged is a challenge for me.
My job is iffy this year. I've been there 6 years. They "love me to pieces" and I "bring the best messages they've ever had".......BUT. When I hear that "but", I know it's time to move on. The but, of course, is the "woman" thing. I wish I could retire, but can't really afford to. It would be nice to be able to write that book. Oh well, It's God's call. That is what I told the folks and my D.S.
Love you, Hugs
